CHALLENGE
The prompt—Solve for conversational toys for kids. My partner and I asked ourselves: What skill or topic do we feel like kids struggle with and need to learn? After brainstorming concepts, we wanted to create a developmental toy that could teach empathy/kindness, responsibility, creativity/imagination, short and long-term goals, problem solving, speech/language, self-esteem…TOO ambitious? We found gold: Cooking! It ties and teaches the lesson of all of these important soft skills together.
GOAL
Cooking is often a missed opportunity for child development in households because of how long or dreadful the process can be, especially with busy parents and tight schedules. Pare is your kid’s friendly kitchen tool and transforms cooking from an everyday chore to a learning and bonding experience for parents and kids.
Kids will learn:
1. physical dexterity holding, grasping, stirring
2. creativity food presentation, experimenting
3. problem-solving skills time management, math, science
4. language development sequencing, comprehension
5. social skills responsibility, cooperation, multicultural
